  • I can see how people with only a radio for entertainment in the evenings, ready to rest from their daily routines, would sit intently listening.

  • this is pretty intense. I wonder if anybody killed themselves, rather than fall into alien hands?

  • @4MaryAnna as far as i no at least 20 died

  • Ron Paul 2012!!!!!!

  • @MrBootinFace your right on wiki, I checked obama's wiki and it was hacked so much only idiot would believe that one.

  • I've always listened to this show every halloween for the past three years as a sort of unofficial tradition...managed to scare the piss out of three kids today

  • @MrBootinFace I'm tired of this fallacy. It is a fallacy and it bugs me because I can't cite wikipedia these days without some douche commenting about the basic fundamental property of a wiki. Say what? A wiki is something that anyone can edit? Shit, since when? The 90s? OH! So that means I can't trust information on it? You're implying I'm wrong because Wiki is sometimes wrong. You're wrong. Fuck, how stupid do you think people are? As stupid as you? Damn.

  • @ChristopherDone They only told the audience three times throughout the broadcast that it was fake. People who tuned in to it in the middle of the broadcast wouldn't have known it was fake. Also it was back in the day when most people belived what they heard because people were much more trusting.

P.S. Dont always belive what Wikipedia says. Anyone can edit it. Therefore it won't alwasys be true.

  • @MrBootinFace Well, Wikipedia tells me the newspapers greatly exaggerated the public reaction, and you can hear for yourself in the audio that it states that this is a fictional performance of a work by H. G. Wells. Also, people aren't that stupid. Where are you getting your information from? There was widespread outrage /after/ the broadcast, for being duped. But the public response to the broadcast was confusion more than fear and belief. I highly doubt "most people DID think this was real".

  • @ChristopherDone Actually, most people DID think that this was real. This version is shortened so that you dont have to wait so long between story pieces. They had other things going on dirong this time on the radio so that it would seem real. And besides, if you we're hearing that aliens were attacking on CNN, you wouldn't be paying attention to time as much as you would on a normal basis.

  • @underthefornix I bet you're that guy at the party who always says something negative when people are talking, and everyone just wishes would go away.
