  • Dan: Also please feel free to post up some of your own videos so we can comment on your form also.

  • Thanks for the comments dudes.

Dan: Yes I am doing a low bar squat and as such, there is nothing wrong with my back angle.

Looking above eye level would be a bad thing as is generally brings the knees forward, shortens the hamstrings, and screws up hip drive.

Upright posture is good for front squats, and to some extent highbar back squats, but the lowbar backsquat uses different mechanics and muscles, and should not try to emulate the other styles.

    Thanks again.

  • I think he should post a video from the front-slightly-off-to-the-side. That way we can see knee movement.

Probably needs to stretch the hammies too.

  • A) I don't think he should be doing overhead squats or front squats just yet. fs will mess up his movement pattern that he is trying to work on in the back squat. overhead squats are a more advanced move and I would suggest getting back squat form a little better first.

    B) He is doing a low bar back squat, as far as I can tell. The aim is to rebound out of the bottom with hip drive, which requires that the hips rise faster than the shoulders at first. It also results in a more acute back angle.

  • front squats and OH squats can help improve your form quite a bit for your back squat. look a little bit above eye level although your lower back seems to be fine I would try to work on keeping a more upright posture while squating. you do a good morning when going up in the back squat, i have the same problem but with front squat i am able to hit full depth and and worry less about form.

  • first set of deads I thought was better. Then you start the pull with a round back on subsequent sets.

For the squats, pick a spot to look at, and keep your eyes on it. Your head is moving a lot and when you lower the weight you look closer and closer to your feet, which I think causes your chest to cave and not stay "big".
