Kishore Kumar was not really religious. He was a shrewd opportunist. All he wanted was to be with Madhubala and so he didn't mind getting some formalities over with so he could be with his beloved. If at all he converted (unconfirmed), there's no substance to such conversion, given that he knew it was merely for show and all that mattered was his love for Madhubala. That being said, pictures of him in his 50s show pictures of Vivekananda and Goddess Durga in the background.

Rohit's right, he did convert to Islam, so that he could marry Madhubala. But Rohit, what's wrong with that? You know why he did it, don't you? He did it for LOVE! How many of us have the balls to even think of doing something like that for the one we claim to love? Dum tha yaar....no wonder he was the master of romantic songs. :)
