the trains in london don't pick up speeds easily like the paris ones. these are quick.

It is because all Paris Metro trains are ATO (automatic train operation) and a few lines have rubber tyres, which means there is better acceleration. The Victoria and Central lines in London have ATO and are as fast, if not faster.
