Gear selection for our ill-fated attempt to summit Kinsman Mountain in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Come with us as we explain our clothing, food, and shelter choices for a three day trip in mid-April, 2011. Some of our choices were great, others could have been better if we had done more research on conditions this time of year. Stay tuned for the rest of the videos in the series to see what we mean.

  • Luxury baby!!!

  • @tjk8881 You know this!

  • If youre still using the wal mart/outdoor products hiking poles that the handle(grip) came off of,try spraying hairspray on it then putting the handle back on.

  • @ChannelTheron Thats actually a great idea...I would've thought to use something a little stronger, but I think hairspray might be just the thing. Thanks for the tip!

  • Good overview of your stuff but man, that looks like a lot of stuff. How many miles did you hike in with it all?

  • @widerstand It is a lot of stuff, but as it turned out we were really glad to have all of it. Our plan was to hike about 4 miles to our campsite. The packs only came out to about 40lbs each, which is totally manageable, and actually pretty light for a winter excursion to the Whites.
