Today's word is "capricious". This is an adjective which means variable or erratic.
For example, you can say, "Making plans with Tom is tough; he's so capricious that he often doesn't show up when he's supposed to be somewhere."

It's like prestigious, also pronounced the two ways. I think the confusion comes from the sound of the i in the root words: prestige, caprice.

I'm English and I'd also say "capricious" instead of "capreecious". So it's not an American thing then?

Hi,
According to my Funk & Wagnells, you're mispronouncing the word. It's not "capreecious," but "capricious." Check it out.
