1)does all the settings on it and programs still work on the new interface?
2) i found on xda developers a wm6 software but it was for the hermes, i have to att/cingular version, not the tmobile , is it the same software so will the wm6 for the hermes work for this phone?
3)what happens if i install the wm6/that interface wrong on the phone, will a hard reset work to fix it?
Thanks for all your help if anyone ansers this, i want a more "finger friendly" interface without bricking my phone

It works well. It's a bit slow, but that's just how it goes on portable devices for the time-being.

Oh. It should be in the connection settings menu, where the phone radio and such are. Then you have to connect to a network as well.
