REDCAR BLAST FURNACE - SLAB STEEL PRODUCTION.

Footage of Redcar Blast Furnace, the second largest blast furnace in europe. Included is footage of some of the surrounding industries chemical and steel around teesmouth which I filmed in November, December 2009.
Production ceased on Friday 19th February 2010 with the loss of 1,600 jobs.
A £320m takeover of TCP (Teesside cast products) by SSI (Sahaviriya steel industries) was signed on 24th February 2011.
The edited track I used for the video is "Industrial Muzak" by Throbbing Gristle, performing at the crypt club London 11th November 1978 from the album throbbing gristle live volume 3, 1978-1979.

My grandmother was from Redcar...Gwendolyn Prosser. Her father was the General Manager at Dorman Long at the turn of the century, Thomas Prosser. How very sad for the British.
