Jon is a typical teenage boy in all respects except one: he was born a girl.

Brought up as Natasha for 15 years, Jon can remember feeling male since he was only five years old. Having grown up always feeling different to the girls in school, it was impossible to identify as female.
Jon eventually confided in his mother Luisa, who supported him in seeking help from his GP and subsequently a gender specialist. He has been diagnosed with gender dysphoria, a condition that affects over 100 British children every year, and is embarking on an extraordinary journey of transition.

Director Julia Moon follows mother and son through the first three months of Jon's life-changing treatment as the testosterone pushes his female body into male puberty.

For Jon the changes that follow are things he's always wanted. But for Luisa, this means coming to terms with the enormous loss of her daughter.

Women are not inferior. He didn't say that being a woman is inferior, he said that being told he isn't who he is makes him feel inferior.

  • everytime i watch this doc i can really see Jon wanting desperately to take his binder off with him saying ow ow hand on chest etc excercising in a binder is a big no no because his lungs aren't working at full capacity and could potentionally hurt himself ribs fluid in lungs etc if you can avoid it don't wear it but sometimes theres no choice

  • gosh, i wish i had a mother like her!! it would make all this so much easier!

  • that gym instructor... THANK YOU. i wish i have someone like that in my life right now. someone so accepting. hank you. we need more people who are so accepting :]

  • @DATSMY you'll never understand this pain. saying, that woman isn't inferior because she brings forth life makes me sick. Yes, i'm transsexual. I hate my body and I don't want to bring a new life. Being a woman is not inferior, thats true. And he didn't say that. But imagine, that you must have body you hate. Hate so hard... For him (and for me) being a woman IS being inferior, cause we feel like a man inside this body. Yes, I know it is a sickness. Very harmfull for mind. It's only pain.

  • wow...hahahh...she believes being a girl...or a woman is being inferior? No wonder she doesn't want to be one....how can a woman be inferior if she brings forth life? We were all brought to life by the sacred womb....how much more powerful can that be?....
