my b/f wants a peacock! There were lots of peachicks at the poultry show I bought these from on Sunday. No way, there are too noisy.
They have laid 3 eggs so far, not quite sure what to do with them. Will hatch some baby quail in the Spring. I think maybe "mini scotch eggs" will be my first foray, not quite posh nosh lol

will they fly away
dededoi 1 year ago
@dededoi yes they probably would fly away if they were kept in an open pen, they were kept in a large aviary completely covered over with wire so they were quite secure and couldn't fly away.

we're thinking of getting a corturnix quail and i have a couple questions. we would only be getting one so would it make a lot of noise? how much work is required for it, and does it make a big mess with its cage and stuff?

@therealmuffinman922 These quails are not an ideal pet. You need more than one quail they are "flock" birds a trio of 1 male/2 females is best. They are not messy but the males are very noisy, calling before sunrise and in the evening. They need to live outside on grass really in a covered pen but need to be kept indoors in winter as they can die in a frost.

nice one, myjugs. luckily they're too big for the roasting dish! deep-fat fryer, maybe? lol

lol we bought a deep fat fryer from Lidl last week would you believe. Also bought 4 turkey chicks from the poultry show on Sunday, I'll post a video soon, they are a little frightened and flighty right now. We won't mention the "C" word to them just yet, it will be a surprise :)
