Because publishers will focus on games for consoles which require mass manufactured GPUs. Until current high end GPU prices hit a low cost that mass manufacturers can afford (profit from), games won't have these graphics. Those same games will not be made right now for the PC (which could presently support them) because developers would rather cater to console market than risk PC,which has a high rate of piracy and comparatively smaller user base
@cildni They can do it now in real time but won't release it. With the pc and high end graphics cards, they can do it all in a different way, pre-rendered and the cards infostructiures can prepare it and create it. Just the way its done. I can asure you that its be done in labs already. I know that a gtx 580 and the like using cuda cores, compairing it against an i7 processor, it can be 280 times faster to process the same information. we can only take tech so far, then we have to find the way.
@cildni Agreed, just to put it in perspective, rendering a frame in Vue7 takes around 10 minutes while games require them to render about 60 times per second.
