  • Why do all these people hate 844? She's the 2nd best right after 4449.

  • Tell that to Union Pacific who completely refurbished their number 3985 Challenger locomotive. They nearly rebuilt the whole thing. You figure if you need rarer and more expensive part for an engine over 100 feet long that you could do the same for a smaller one (unless of course it's like from the 1800s.)

  • @atsf3415dbr You're right and you're wrong. I take back 844 being the best. Southern 630 is the true winner here!

  • @MthRailFanatic Everything is going to come to the end of their service lives & end up as recycled materials. Steam & diesel locomotives. That doesn't break my heart!

I just want to see all the remaining steam locomotives scrapped & melted. That thought just warms the very depths of my heart!

  • @atsf3415dbr O Know I Shouldn't But We've Already Started And I Do Know He's A A**HOLE Why Can't He Be Mature And Keep His Thoughts To Himself.

  • @Cockroach2008 Ok Yes WhenThe Diesels Took Over Many Steamers Where Scraped But Remeber Many Diesels Have Sofured The Same Fate As Steam Engines Being Scraped And Melted Down.

  • @MthRailFanatic Don't mess with cockroach2008, he's just a "bully".

  • @Weiberts Woah just wait a minute there. The best operating is ATSF 3415, and the best ever is ATSF 1880.

  • @MthRailFanatic Remembering what steam locomotion did for this country is one thing. It is documented, photographed & filmed all it needs to be. Preserving steam locomotives is not necessary, nor does it make economic sense. It is just not practical, a waste of time & resources. Time to move on!

As we come across more steam locomotive parts which are in the scrap pile for melting, maintenance is only getting more difficult for these piles of junk.

    Nothing beautiful about them!

  • @Cockroach2008 Ok Yes Steam Is Outdated But Remeber This Is What They Started With In America It Was Steam. I Know With Diesels Its Better. But There Still Are Plenty Of Steam Engines Opreating. But Yes It's Getting Much Harder To Keep These Beautes Running.

  • @MthRailFanatic Thank you for good wishes! I sincerely appreciate it!

Steam is nothing but vaporized water. No life, no pulse & no good for locomotive power any longer!

Now, it is time to scrap, cut apart & melt the machines that use it!

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives! Cut them apart & melt them down!
