This song is attributed to Gebirtig. The translation of the text is:

On the wall over my bed, hangs the portrait of my duaghter, Shifrele. Often in the middle of the night, when I'm lonesome for her, I think . . . I see that she is looking for me; I hear her talking to me. "Daddy, I know it pains you . . The war will not last long. I will come to you soon. Spring is already knocking at the door." Lovingly, it talks to me . . . Shifrele's portrait.

I have accompanied the song with some portraits by the painter William Bouguereau (1825-1905). They are lovely images of young women.

Shifrele was the elder daughter of the poet Mordekhai Gebirtig. She was murdered by the nazis in 1941, and his father was murdered by the nazis in the Cracow Ghetto in 1942. Her mother and her sisters died in the concentration camp of Belzec...This modest family of poor people is as the symbol of all Jewish families destroyed by the nazi monster...
