Frances Moore Lappe speaks about breaking the spiral of fear by recognize deep human needs for empowerment, Pioneer Valley Relocalization Conference, Northampton, MA, September 2007.
This reminds me of how I felt when I was a kid. I did feel that need to be part of something. Every time I'd reach out my hand would be slapped however. I learned keep my generous impulses in check, even disowning my idiotic drug addict older sister since the only time she'd have anything to do with me was when she wanted something. Same thing with marriage and divorce, no thanks! I pulled in my expectations a bit and kept my prosperity to myself. It's not a bad life, at least I have money now.
