Here are photos from our two homes' landscapes, restored with plant species native to southeastern Wisconsin. Alien species are used too often in landscaping. Native species are generally hardier and more beneficial to local ecology, and they are part of what makes each locale special in its own evolutionarily way.
This presentation serves as a "dessert course" after I give a 55-min. program on landscaping with native plants. Its intent is to drive home the point that there is amply diversity and form for landscapers to employ. Further, its purpose is to leave my audience, who has been sitting silently in the dark for about an hour, with an exhilarating conclusion and a sense of patriotism in growing our local heritage. For plant images with names superimposed, view the program "Your Homemade Wilderness."
