Welcome to SqueeTV. In this edition, we look at the latest Doctor Who classic figures - The Cybermen.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
These iconic creatures were created by Kit Pedler and Gerry Davis and realised in the BBC TV series Dr Who. They first appeared in the William Hartnell adventure THE TENTH PLANET (at the end of which, the Doctor regenerated for the very first time).
A total of five figures (in four packs with 'build a figure' bonus parts with each individual pack) are available in this first wave.

The first figure in the CO 'Men of Steel' range comes from THE TENTH PLANET and depicts the Cybermen as first seen in this William Hartnell story. The second figure in the wave appears in the classic Patrick Troughton story THE TOMB OF THE CYBERMEN. A 'build a figure' Cybercontroller, also from The Tomb of the Cybermen, can be put together when all four figures in this wave have been purchased. In pack three, you'll find a Cyberman from the Patrick Troughton story THE INVASION. The final pack in this wave contains a NEXT DOCTOR Cyberleader from the 2008 Christmas special of the new series. It isn't featured within this video review as it's 'not a proper Cyberman'...

...ahem...

It's very nice but it's from an alternate reality... The Cybermen within the classic Dr Who universe originated from the planet Mondas, whereas the new series Cybermen were created on an alternate Earth by Lumic Industries. SqueeTV hopes that the release of the 'Men of Steel' will encourage the makers of 'New Who' to give us a couple of Mondasian Cyberman stories, as the figures show just how great the original designs are.

It can be quite difficult to find the Men of Steel figures - if you see them in your favourite toy store and if you want them, then you're best to pick them up. The SqueeTV rumour mill has it that, once they're gone, they're gone! It's hoped that the high sales of the wave will mean that more Cybermen from different classic stories will be released at some time in the future.

SqueeTV says "...make us an Earthshock Beryl Reid and our lives will be complete - Excellent!"

I'm glad to hear that Tony has his fans out there. Tony is currently unavailable due to a crime committed abroad - the full story will be told in the next series, coming later this year...

  • @Redhellmet I'm sorry, but that makes absolutely no sense.

  • @NinjaPotato01 No the nu-ones are low budget & unrealistic. You think that Cybusmen crying oil is realistic? There's this annoying stomping sound effect that follows them around but they still look like they're made out of plastic. All their heads are at different angles & are much too small - so, not in proportion. Also the stories they are in aren't imaginative - they were created by cyber-davros. Cybermen are supposed to be part organic not complete robots. DW - Cybermen, Nu-hu - Cybusmen.

  • Am I the only one who preferrs the new cybermen?? The old ones were just low budget and unrealistic. They just looked like people in shiny silver jumpsuits and oversized helmets. Where as the new ones look like actual cyber men, and their head and bodies are proportional. Plus, they seem more like they used to be human, and now they have no mercy for them. Making them more intimidating. That's just my opinion.

  • Wish they had background music like this in the new series rather than that bloody awful orchestra rubbish

  • Great video! The images of the Cybermen in the snow were actually a bit creepy. The Mondasian Cybermen were far superior to the new, "Pete's World" version. Hope Moffat decides to bring them back, soon...

  • @greyroompictures

I call them either "Cybusmen" or "Ironman Rip-offs".

Plus I hate their bionic chipmunk voices, Dalek-like phrases, and their noisy stomps. The real, mondas Cybermen worked in the shadows often. And the fact there are bits and pieces of organic tissue tucked in amongsts all that metal and circuits, and not just a brain in a robot, makes them even more grizzly. The Tenth Planet Cybermen figures are a great example of that.

  • I want a gold plated Cyberman figure.

  • guys first rate video..and i do agree!

You do know that we stcok a funk load of DW figures..?
