Hear and download my debut album One Cloud:
http://robmartino.bandcamp.com

Here is an excerpt from my set under the tent at 3RP in Pittsburgh, Aug. 8 2009 (between the Singularity and Phideaux sets).

Just an informal recording using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 digital camera with built in stereo mic.

This is an early version of the last tune on my album One Cloud, called "The Third Engima".

  • man i love your music, really beautiful work man, you have inspired me to play stick, so how is the stick tuned? what kind of amp does it use? and what kind of strings uses? i am a 6 string bass player and i do lot of tapping, so maybe i have some edge, well again your music is great!

  • @yogsothoth2099 thanks very much.... check out the FAQ on my website where I talk about stuff like this, also the stickist forum is a great resource for information

  • Great job Rob. Does it not bother you to have all the background noise or are you able to tune it out ?? Thanks for putting this up beautiful work.

  • @bc78260 thanks- I've played enough open mics and bar gigs to be used to background talking for the most part. Sometimes gigs where everyone is silent and listening intently is distracting in a different way! Also the audio with this camera mic is a bit deceptive- it picks up sound in all directions and there was an outdoor food tent off to the side where everyone was eating lunch, while people listening to the music were closer to the stage.

  • Hey Rob! Great tune. I love your composition style. It really is different in many ways, and its great to hear it being done on the Stick. Best wishes and luck in the future. Thanks for adding such variety to our world and comunity... :-)

    Take care!

  • @JaphletBA Thanks very much Japhlet! You are quite a creative Stick player yourself so your comment is very much appreciated!

  • If I had been there, I'd probably be telling all the people to shut up and listen to this beautiful music... why do people always treat instrumental stuff as background music?! Just because it doesn't have vocals doesn't mean you aren't required to pay attention to fully appreciate it...

  • yo people in back ground stop walking around and pay this man deat shut up stop talking and let the music take you to the sky love the music rob

  • Sounds great Rob, but I feel that it would sound even better if you had a full band playing along and throw in some vocals.

  • @disposablehero85 Yeah, the fixation on vocals is very remarkable, just watch any videoclip of a band and notice how little you see of the guitarists, or drummers, bassists are even the biggest suckers there, you probably get to see them maybe once or twice! The singer usually "hogs" about 80 % of the video.

Anyway, nice job, Rob. You should know: you're friggin' awesome! I couldn't play the stick, I remember the first time I played a 7-string: full-blown panic attack!! too much strings!!! ;-)

  • if musicians like andy mckee and such can show their talents on youtube and recieve millions of views i don't see why your video's seem so underated

one of the best musicians on youtube by far

  • I'd like to know which exact model you are playing if you don't mind, Rob. This is a very nice video as well!

  • @BrighamHB because for some reason people have it in their head that music isn't music unless it has vocals. That's why people associate bands with the lead singer rather than the band as a whole. In this case, the people standing around talking are probably going "when is the song going to start?" Me on the other hand, a lot of my favorite songs are instrumentals. Singers usually ruin it!
