Flying the MikeysRC Sport Trainer in constant 30mph, gusting 40+mph, gale winds.

This airplane is 'loosely' based around the MikeysRC Sport Trainer, with a few differences in the airframe for handling.

We had a really windy day on the Gulf Coast, with winds speeds reaching into gale strength. We wanted to see just how good this thing would fly in these winds!

As it turns out, full throttle is stationary for ground speed, though airspeed is quite more! Anything but nose-in to the wind means one heck of a ride.

Setup for video: 8x5 prop, 1300kv motor, 1500mah 3s 20c LiPo, 18A ESC.

  • Cool, pretty stable given the conditions. Thanks for sharing.

  • @MikeysRC

Thanks for the plans! It was a fun build, and even amid all my other planes, it still sure is fun to fly whenever I get a chance...
