  • 360Shows Says:"And what the hell is all the fuss about racism its called a joke it doesnt mean we all go out wearing white hoods."

Look mate; Just because your not in the the KKK doesn't mean your not rascist, I think you need to open your eyes. This Advert plays on racial stereotypes that were thought dead & buried; I thought this Ad was hugely patronising.

  • how does it though?

is there a hidden message on it or something?

because i've watched it like 10 times and it still seems like just a normal advert to me :/

  • Ha ha ha jokes mate that was lol ad.

And what the hell is all the fuss about racism its called a joke it doesnt mean we all go out wearing white hoods.

  • Absolutely pathetic that people were offended so much. There are adverts that mock people from all walks of life, Americans mock Brits for being posh and sipping tea, Brits mock Americans for all being fat, Welsh get mocked for sheep-shagging, Scottish for wearing kilts. Its all a bit of fun. Noone can make a joke without someone being offended, so should we take away fun? Should we be banned for doing a Scouse accent? Or Aussie? Or French? No? So why should a Jamaican accent be prohibited?

  • im not rascist and im in the kkk

  • People ought to realise it's a reference to Spoken Word Artists and is influenced by Linton Kwesi Johnson, to my knowledge the only reggae / dub poet on the national curriculum. It's a bit silly but then so were the other adverts like Mr Budgerigar and the woman who was talking to the women's institute in patois. It did its job and got everyone talking about it - clever adverts do stick. As a black person I think it's no more offensive than Ali G.

  • @Superdude1992 As I'm actually of the race to which you think are offended, let me tell you – cheer up lad. We also have a sense of humour, or do you think we can't even laugh? Tell me, in what way is this against my race? Wake up and watch a few adverts, everythings a bit wacky these days – the joke here isn't anything to do with the race, it's about him wanting to tell the world about Trident – you think we all want to spread the word about Trident, because that's not even a "stereotype"

  • thumbs up if you think political correctness has gone insane.

  • mastication???

  • @need4feet

and my kids all think white men from Yorkshire are dickheads like Chris Moyles... it's a crying shame.

  • @Superdude1992

I agree that it's patronising... but at the same time... I think the people who made it were aware of artists like Zephaniah and Linton Kwesi Johnson and were relying on the audience to do the same... instead the people who complained and got it banned probably just saw a derogatory representation of a black man acting the fool instead of a light parody of some really positive black british artists who deserve to be in the public conciousness

  • I see nothing wrong with this advert. I didn't remember the product thou!

  • im offended because i cant understand a cunting word hes saying

  • Racist or not, this ad makes no sense and is just plain stupid. It fails of its essential purpose (to convince me to buy the gum).

  • Hmm, still though i don't think it's that bad... You can have a stereotype from any nation. I mean, i'm a bangladeshi, but if I saw some crazy indian guy on an advert I wouldn't be offended. i'm not indian, but that's what I tend to be associated with but I don't mind too much.

I think this advert is funny, having a funny carribean guy being crazy and spreading a slogan. If it's harmful to children, then it should be moved after the water shed.
