Love that there is a community of people out there happy to reject mindless consumerism and embrace a more natural way of living. :)

@CoolKarmaVideo Thanks for your advice. The lemon juice and the fine tooth comb took out a lot of the buildup and I think I'm finished with the transition period. My hair feels okay again. :D

Nice. Thanks for the advice. I'm on day 7 and your ideas worked perfectly. I added frankincense and myrrh to the apple cider vinegar because I love what these smell like and anti-bacterial effects. . It's a matter of patience and VERY IMPORTANT: properly dissolving baking soda and then completely rinsing it out. (that rinses many residues out!) Towel drying briskly does remove the excess oils. I use vinegar and above oil scents in the conditioner but only 2-3 drops needed in a pint jar.

it's great information but presentation needs a little work. Notice at 4:30 that when Martha says (about adding essential oils) "I use about one drop per cup" mom is mouthing the words at the same time. It's like a ventriloquism act.
The daughter is so self conscious, it's like she's drunk, but she does have lovely hair. The colour is gorgeous. Maybe with a bit more practice it'll come across as less awkward.
There are so many brushes in this world and somehow I just knew you had the same exact brush I use, LOL (the first one with black and silver handle. There are other natural boar bristle brushes but the bristles are sometimes way too stiff and don't feel good on the scalp. Finding one with more flexible bristles works better to massage the scalp without damage. BTW, everything soap does, baking soda does better including cleaning your brush.

how much do I need to use for oily hair? baking soda and vinegar
KAngelWhimseyMiloK 6 months ago
@KAngelWhimseyMiloK -- that depends on your particular body chemistry and it may change over time. For me (and my hair tended to be oily when I used traditional shampoo) .. I use two TBL baking soda to 2 cups of water. And at the moment, I am using about 3 TBL vingar, straight as a rinse. For me, that seems to work best. But most people use only about a TBL vinegar in one cup of water. Good luck finding something that works for you.

@jenwic2 .. i use a wide tooth comb in the shower and even my very long hair is not hard to comb out after washing with the solutions.
