  • Is that Graham Norton at 3:31 ?

  • @jmasters24 Yes. He & Douglas performed as Albin here. Graham sang the title song La Cage Aux Folles.

  • Whose the bastard that disliked this?

  • This great song isn't about men in dresses. iI's about taking joy from what we have done with ourselves sometmes against great adversity. Applaud someone you don't understand, admire their efforts, they most likely will return the favor.

  • @SamE1331 I agree. I just saw him in this role on Feb. 18, and he took my breath away. He was amazing. Douglas Hodge was great in this role and I love his interpretation, but there was something so incredibly moving about the way Sieber played it.

  • it's like its sung through angry tears

  • Hodge is wonderful, though I have to say Christopher Sieber gave (in my opinion) the most powerful performance of this song Ive ever seen on the tour. Truly incredible. Though I enjoy Hodges take as well, wish I got to see him live.

  • Have to agree with benedictines - this is a song about triumph, not drag. It was way ahead of its time in some ways and it doesn't matter if you're gay, straight, bi or anything in between; it celebrates the uniqueness of people and the fact that the only ones who belong in your bedroom or your life are you and whomever else you choose. I don't wear dresses, but I can understand, because they look a lot more comfortable than some of stuff guys have to pack themselves into!

  • @Sonnyayfulness Sounds like he's starting in C Major.

  • Am I the only one who has to think of Ethel Merman right now?

(I mean this in a good way, of course.)

  • I was lucky enough to see the original broadway cast in 1983 with George Hearn as Albin; then the revival in 2010 with Douglas Hodge. I must say that as much as I loved the 1983 production, Douglas Hodge was most amazing. And this song is the heart of the whole musical.

  • He's amazing! such a great performance and such a feeling!

  • its not the original key but this is pure amazing
