  • Gee, poor old Rhenium has hardly any comments! And that's despite its practical applications.

  • @NASCreations: Well glad you cared enough to comment and add to its tiny list!

  • @bushiyo2 :

    Even more impressive.

  • If Rhenium is such a miracle catalyst of carbon dioxide (with light energy), that makes it impressively important for Human technological development, AFAIC. We just need to get more of this metal. Stop using it for military shite, for starters.

  • At 10,030-10,031 degrees Fahrenheit Tungsten becomes a gas, and Rhenium becomes the only remaining liquid on the periodic table.

  • Another great video. Rhenium is one of my favourite elements - The metal in bulk form (not sintered but arc melted) is very attractive and the element has interesting redox reactions and coordination complexes. I'm sure the future will see rhenium's uses increase. Pity it's so rare.

  • They should make a family guy episode about rhenium.

  • Rhenium has more naturally occuring unstable isotopes (Re-187 ~ 63%) than stable isotopes (Re-185 ~ 37%). They have very long half-lives. Indium has one stable isotope and one unstable isotope too, (In-115 ~ 96% which is unstable and In-113 ~ 4% which is stable). These 2 elements have more unstable isotopes than stable isotopes. The half-lives are so long, they would measure to be stable in radioactivity. NICE VIDEOS! They should be on the Discovery Channel! These guys could have their own show!

  • I would like to experiment with Rhenium someday. I also like the your idea to create a Periodic Table of Videos! That is an amazing concept. Thank you for posting!

  • you could have mentioned that although Rhenium is not technically radioactive because it has a stable isotope, Rhenium's most common naturally occuring isotope IS radioactive a property shared only by indium.

  • Hey he's right

    My grandfather really found it

    of Otto Berg's Granddaughter

  • I just bought a tiny sample of Rhenium. Its quite shiny and heavy.
