July 21, 2010 Logan, Utah contest for sailplanes / gliders. Part 9 of 10 videos. This video shows that sometimes it is best to slow down in some parts of a cross country soaring flight in order to get the fastest total average speed.
Pilot Bruno Vassel IV (B4) is flying a 15 meter ASW-20B sailplane from Logan, Utah up into Idaho and back into Utah. The 2 hours of video were divided into 10 parts for easier viewing. This video shows flying around many of the most popular turn points of Logan Utah used for soaring contests including: Sedgwick Peak, Sherman Peak, Oxford Peak, Gun Sight Peak, the Wellsville Range, Willard Peak and the Logan Airport.
The 15 meter Nationals will be held in Logan Utah in 2011 and hopefully this video will help pilots who have not flown in this area to get at least a feel for the region. Thanks for watching and for your comments.
@bviv Your welcome any time dude, check out windrushers gliding club and take a look at the airfield, its an old WW2 base with all of the original features, and we winch which I bet is something your not used too.

@lhitchins I'm all over it! Would absolutely love to come over to the UK and soar with you all. :) Some of the videos I have see you guys take is just spectacular flying over 1000 shades of green fields and hills. I'm in Italy in 2012 for a summer holiday but maybe I can make it to the UK in 2013. Thanks for the invite. :) Bruno

@10SparrowHawk I think that a soaring season in the UK would be great experience for US pilots. They are used to riding high with stong thermals, try soaring 500km with a CB of 5000ft and thermal averages of 3-5kts.

Look Ma, no circling. One thing you have shown me is that I circle way too much.
