I didn't want to spend $200 on an ugly cat tree, so I built one myself. Here is a look at it with the cats playing on it. A write-up on the tower is at my website: http://www.ubrgk.com/articles.php?article=Cat_Tower

  • how did you get the carpet to stay on the tower so well? please help!

  • I used a staple gun... available at hardware / home improvement stores.

  • Could have spent more time covering the wood.

  • I purposefully left a lot of wood showing. IMHO, it looks a lot better than 100% carpet.

  • I forgot to mention, this comment made my day when you posted it, I was lolz. If you think it was ugly in the video (a few years old now), you should see it today; the cats worn it out.

  • this is absolutely amazing. personally I like the store cat trees. but they are extremely expensive i was lucky that my 4 level cat tree was only $80 with shipping and handling. but I want to have a second one. for another room so i just might follow some of what you did here. What type of rope and carpet did you use? and how much supplies did you end up needing?

  • dont worry, I am going to incorporate some of yours into the one I am making. cool cat tree. Is the tabby part Bengal?

  • i like this, looks a lot better than the ones at the store, and im sure it costs a lot less ( about to look at your website, lol) the "form fit: to the corner is pretty sweet also

  • @catCRAAAZY

oh dear get a life sado!!

  • Amazing, you should start your own buisness building these & selling them.

  • spider cat

  • Nice. And if the cat wants a Bud, s/he just has to climb down to the base.

BTW My dad made a homemade scratching post a long time ago with a cherry stump and leftover carpet scraps

  • @5burkholz I agree with you I will be using his some of his ideas as well! Awesome job!

  • @gerbil375 jjjjjjjjjjjuuuuuuuui
