For those stacatto questions...I just can tell you one thing, Jacobs is one of the most strong musicians and musicologist of our time and his performances go far beyond the banality of tradition looking always in a deeper source and this performance of Idomeneo is the first and I repeat, the FIRST recording according to Mozart's origilal score and manuscript following the original order of the work which was recently rediscovered...and ...well...it doesn't matter...

ust listen to Jacobs Don Giovanni, Le nozze, La clemenza, or his wonderful versions of the Prague and 41 symphonies...and all that he argues in his performances (you'll find much of this in youtube)...and then...talk about stacattos...please, a little bit of musicological view helps always more to a great performence than "tradition"

@ludovicomoro Si, sono d'accordo con te. La bellezza della musica di Mozart non ha bisogno di certe aggiunte, almeno a parer mio. Nulla da dire sulla voce. Ciao.

voce ideale e bravissima!

Brava!!! forse un pò manierata, no?

Any chance you could post Idomeneo's arias from this performance?

I like the full, dramatic sound of the orchestra in this production but everybody should keep their hands off the staccatos and sing them/have them be sung as Mozart wrote them :)

I was so sad when Jacobs cast Alexandrina as Donna Elvira instead of Anna in his Don Giovanni recording, but this fully makes up for that. She's a simply brilliant Elettra! Of course, I'm not a fan of Jacobs himself, but he doesn't bother me overmuch here. Perhaps this opera is better attuned to his approach than Don Giovanni?

Im a big fan of renee fleming, but i hear some of her mannerisms sneaking into pendatchanskas singing and i dont like it at all.
