Not a very good video/performance, but will soon make a better one. By making this video, I also wanted to show that traditional style lion dance still exists because a lot of people nowadays say it's becoming a dead art or that just nooone plays it that much anymore.

I hit the head on the ceiling =\

  • score for shaolin hung gar in boston! =]

  • Yea this took place at their studio but I left a long time ago.

  • I might post a new video soon, not sure yet. This is an anonymous account for 100% criticism and to avoid exposure.

    What do you guys think?

  • Traditional Fut Shan lion head, Fut Shan drumming, and keeping up with traditions. I LOVE IT, much respect from me. Do you guys wear simple black martial art pants as well by anychance? For our school, we are completely old school all the way even though other groups make fun of us because they think we are poor and cant afford new looking lions and the full tail/pants kit.

  • Don't listen to what other people say. It is expected to hear that sort of thing because lion dancing is a very competitive sport. Pride is held very high by lion dancers and their teams.

Yes true having attractive lions and uniforms is ATTRACTIVE on a superficial level, but the real beauty of the art comes from the creativity, ability, skill, technique, and PRIDE of the lion dancers that make a great team and performance.

    What group are you from?

  • Some of the comments made here are way too harsh, You did a great job drumming and I liked the music! The dancing was great too. I bet the guy in the back didn't get in the tail cause he wasn't trained and you couldn't find anyone else that could do the job. I know how hard it is to find, train and especially keep regular team members.

  • Love the traditional head it's a lot heavier than the modern Futsan. Your stances need work lower stances and sharper movements also try to take the head more the harder you shake the head the better it look.

  • Though these days the lion dance have changed a lot of playing styles, but without Fut Shan 佛山 initiative Lion dance, you would not see todays lion dance. Must keep the tradition and respect the old. Todays call it art, olden day it is symbolic of fortunate (祥).

  • Good job. Stances need more work. Try to do lower stances and more powerful movements

  • Cool that you guys are keeping it alive. So are we. Our team is called LA Jin Yin. We are based in Los Angeles and we also practice the Traditional Lion Dancing. How long have you guys been practising?
