@MegaLinda1957 What you had to say about your Mum here on Youtube and her passing was so touching, I just have to comment. Although my Mum was not a singer, she was married to possibly the greatest tenor voice produced in Australia Dr Donald Smith O.B.E. so music was always in our home. My father passed away in 1998 at age 78 and Mum in 2009 at age 87. To comfort Mum in her last hours my wife and I played my father's recordings to her. The music comforted us all in our hours of grief and loss.

my mum used to sing this for people in concerts and in nursings homes ,she passed away this week aged 90 we were playing this to her as she took her last breath,and were sure she sang it !!then went so peacefully

This was one of my mother's favourites. We wanted to play it at her funeral, but couldn't remember who wrote it or what opera it was from. Lovely to hear it again, and a beautiful version. Isn't You Tube wonderful!

Thanks for placing this. Have not heard it for some 50 years. I am 72 now and loved it when I was in grade school in Holland. Thanks also to utube keep up the good work.
