Read Here for Sassy's story...

My family got Sassy in October 1997. Sassy was a tough kitten, picking fights with our other cat, Autumn (Died).After Autumn was gone we got Sparkle, Sassy's younger sister, they were as close as ever.
Sassy loved playing, she was really fun to play with, she always made us laugh. Sparkle was the loveable one, she loved to cuddle with us... Sassy was getting older and my parents knew some things that can happen to animals when they get older, we hoped nothing would happen.
...
Sassy looked fine last night, all healthy and cheerful... 7:13am: I had been sleeping, waiting till my parents woke me up (I was going to be babysitting for my auntie and uncle today), my dad came and woke me up earlier than he said he would... he said " I'm waking you up earlier, I have to take Sassy to the vet." That snapped me awake, I asked what had happened to her and I found out these details: This morning Sassy's backlegs weren't working, she was dragging herself across the floor, shortly after my parents noticed that Sassy began panting and moaning, She wouldn't let anyone touch her. So my parents got kennel and had started getting ready to take her to the vet. I had woken up instantly and walked towards the kitchen, were I heard Sassy moaning. Sassy was in the Kennel, ears down, mouth open panting as hard as ever, I pet her through the cage and tried to soothe her... 7:30am: my parents left with Sassy, they left a note for my brothers "Took Sassy to Vet, we will call later." I tried to control myself, but a thought kept running through my head 'she's going to die'. I sat down with my other cat and started petting her, she had been scared by the was Sassy acted. I'd gone off into a trance for awhile. I decided to check if my Uncle was here to pick me up, and sure enought, he was. So I got ready and walked outside. I walked towards the van when I suddenly noticed the car sliding to a halt behind it. My dad got out and said those 2 horrible words "She Died" -- My parents had drove, as fast as they could, to the vet, but as they walked in Sassy's life ended, she had died. The vet had told us that Sassy had probably had an asthma attack or had heart failer, or perhaps it had been both. I chose to stay home, insted of babysitting... I had promised myself if Sassy died I'd make a video for her no matter what, and thats what I have done...
Sassy- Gray, White,Light Brown calico cat.
Sparkle- White, Orange and Black calico.
Autumn- Black, White Dark Brown cat.
I am in one of the pics, The one were im holding Sassy and laughing, she'd been making funny noises.
There is this one picture, with Sassy and two Guinea pigs, I put that one in mostly because those were the last 3 pets that have died... all caged together.

Problem:
hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (Thickening Heart Muscle Disease)
SYMPTOMS
The symptoms of HCM vary greatly, from cats that are seemingly unaffected, to cats that die suddenly. Since cats are reclusive by nature, often the symptoms of cardiovascular disease are vague
In those cases where the cat exhibits no visible or obvious signs of the disease, it may well be able to lead a normal life and the disease only becomes apparent and the symptoms suddenly appear when the cat experiences stress. Stress leads to a faster pulse, which means the heart has less time to expand and fill. As with all cardiac disorder, early detection and diagnosis is the key to the most successful clinical treatment.With heart failure and fluid in the lungs, the symptoms might be fast and shallow breathing - often through open mouth, nasal mucous, coughing, severe lethargy, a weak and fast pulse and pale mucus membranes. The cat might become very weak, collapse, and in some cases, die.
Another serious symptom is paralysis of the lower back and rear limbs, or rear limb dysfunction.
The reason for this being a blood clot lodged in the lower part of the back. Paralysis could be a sign of a clinical emergency and is usually extremely painful. You should contact a vet immediately.
When it has got to the point where the cat is showing obvious clinical symptoms, the disease is usually well advanced.
Remember also, that symptoms vary from case to case. If you have the slightest doubt about your cats health, you should get in touch with a clinic. Its better to err on the side of caution.
Never give your cat aspirin or paracetamol without first having consulted a vet!
It may potentially poison the cat, as cats react very strongly to such medicines.

  • Aw, I'm sorry for your loss buddy. Poor Sassy. ;-;

  • @tokyocandy11 Thanks ;-;

  • I think my cat is having symptoms of heart failure now, especially with his heavy breathing and losing weight. The vets aren't sure, but they said it could be a possibility. It makes me really sad to see this video because it is like losing a good friend, when it's your pet.

  • Awee... I hope everything turns out okay...
