You might as well stick your fingers in your ears, go "la la la", and then declare yourself the best debater in history. I think from now on whenever a creationist gets into any sort of argument or debate with someone who understands something about abiogenesis/evolution/cosmogen
etic theories as they are actually understood in science, the non-creationist should refuse to enter the discussion until and unless the creationist demonstrates that he actually knows what constitutes evidence. -
I made only one reference to evolution in the video. Even without the question of how life came to be, the Genesis account still has immense problems. First off, we know of civilizations that are older than the generations in the bible can account for. Entire civilizations that existed prior to Adam, if the genealogy of the bible is correct. I have heard all of these arguments, I used to give them. I was a "born again" Baptist all the way into my adulthood. I willfully ignored all the evidence.

well, I looked through your link. It's nothing but an apologetic's think tank. I checked all links involved with it and even did some research on the "scientists" involved... all apologists. I realize that there are issues with the translation, but I've read proper translations from the original Greek and Hebrew and the bible is still bullshit. There is no good science in the bible.

Um...It was a joke...Never been a Christian by choice. But yeah! I'll go to Dawkins book signing...It sounds like interesting fun! not.

2. the word is interchangeable, though - especially given that God calls the LIGHT "day" and DARKNESS "night" in the verse you reference... which means if I leave all my lights on in my condo, I am living in perpetual day by biblical standards.
Also, the Jewish "day" begins with what we would call "evening" (sundown).
You're basically validating bad theology, and that's where I have to pipe up. Other than that, though - great video and I agree Christianity and the bible are opposed.

You, sir, were the one who made the claim "science" supports the creation story. The data you dispute, or the "interpretations" you dispute aren't simply evolutionist claims. Biology would be the realm of evolution, but the fields of anthropology, archaeology, cosmology as well as many others conflict with the creation story. Why don't you present this scientific evidence that supports it, and I will listen, instead of leaving sarcastic remarks that don't address it.

Most people both misread the Bible, and don't know how to apply the scientific method. Link is to the most consistent interpretation methodology I've found. The book cites the peer reviewed scientific literature, and also goes into the original languages (rather than English [often mis]translations).

Ok, you win... I am no longer a born again christian. I have become a nihilist atheist, no morals but lots of values. Free to decide to become an antistatist. Thank you
well, ron - 2 problems:
1. no christian needs Genesis to be scientifically accurate for the doctrine to work. you should know that.
2. the word for "day" is synonymous with the word for "era" in the hebrew.
Other than that - good video.

No Willaim, not 2 problems
1. I was responding to a specific Christian who said that science supports the Genesis account. Pay attention Will.
2. The word for "day" isn't the only reference to a 24 hour period. Every "day" in Genesis ends with what? "...And the evening and the morning were the first day""...And the evening and the morning were the second day". Plus, the first day is just that, God creating the day concept when creating the day and the night.
