26 months old - going to the dentist for the first time. She had a great time with the hygienist and was perfectly behaved and cooperative... until the dentist came in and she completely freaked! She did a fantastic job and I'm so proud of her.

  • I am a dentist with 25 years of experience. Mothers, if you accompany your young children please do not make the annoying mistake of trying to coach them through every step of the procedure. Let the pros do their job. They do not need your help. Let your child learn to communicate on their own. They will be fine, even without you.

  • I regret to hear you find my mothering techniques annoying. Even so, I think she did a wonderful job with the procedure, and she seemed happy. Neither the hygienist nor my daughter were annoyed with my trying to reassure my daughter, who has terrible anxiety issues with her doctor. I'm glad my dentist doesn't mind my being there and I'll be sure not to go to your practice !

  • She is lucky she's not British. They put two spoonfulls of sugar in their toothpaste.

  • HO !

  • oh, your girl is such a smart and lovely baby, I envy you very much :P

  • She really surprised me! But yes, I am extremely fortunate - thank you! :)

  • i think the first visit to the dentist is far more scarier than the first visit to the doctor

  • This mother didnt do anything wrong at all. She was there with her daughter, as she should have been. NO WAY would I have my child go into the room with out me, nor would I EVER recommend it. At the age of two my mother let the dentist take me to the exam room without her, I came back with a soaking head of hair from sweat...DUE TO CRYING. I was 2 yrs old, and I still remember the entire experience. Mothers, never let your children go without a parent!!!!!!

  • You weren't, just ignore the criticism. Besides dentists need to deal with both parents and children....that is if they want to keep your business. Best of luck with your family!

  • Well the pros can do their job. But any mother would want to accompany their child and to encourage them through it. I don't think that this little girls mother did anything wrong.

  • She is So brave!

  • She's the PERFECT child. What a wonderful little girl and so brave too. I also love how the dress matches the chair and her bib matches the pillow too. She should be in a commercial or something. I also think the dental assistant did a great job with your daughter too :) Thanks for sharing the vid
