Agree 100%. This song has different layers of meaning that come out when a more masculine sounding guy sings it. I have been a fan of Elton John's from the very beginning (Your Song), and his music really helped me get through high school, but to me he's out of gas, and has become so much about the gay thing that I can't always relate anymore. People can start to sound like carticatures of themselves--Bob Dylan is an extreme example of this. It's a hazard of having a long career.
