Quique Cruz - Despierta Boricua (WAKE UP BORICUA)

A song & video to help raise the awareness of the current political situation involving the island of Boriken (commonly known as Puerto Rico) and its relation to the United States. It's a call for all people of Puerto Rican decent to WAKE UP!!! And DEFEND YOUR OWN!!!

For those of you who aren't of Boricua blood, this is for you to realise what is happening to the people of Puerto Rico, at home and in the states. Puerto Rico is the oldest colony in the world. The island was forced into poverty, by the US, early in the 20th century, making Puerto Rico economically dependent on the US and forcing more than a half million Boricuas off the island and onto the continental US. Puerto Ricans were given United States citizenship only to be drafted into the military, to fight in WWI & WWII. It was a federal offense to wave a Puerto Rican flag before 1950, now the flag can only be waved in the company of the American flag. For more than a century now the people of PR have been fighting for independence, but still, to this day, our people are being shot, killed and incarcerated for believing in the cause for PR's independence.

We can not allow this to continue, for it is a violation of international law and a violation of our human right to be free.
