  • Hello, this is a great video! I'm wondering what mm of 14 gauge you're using? Also, could I use a rounded, convex hammer for hammering? As you can tell, I've never done this! Thanks for any tips.

  • @kswanson20 14-gauge wire is 1.6 mm across. You can find a free downloadable gauge/mm conversion chart under the Reference section of our Web site.

A convex hammer would work just fine. (The chasing hammer I'm using is just slightly convex) You'll just have a slightly different shape to the hammered divots on your metal. Have fun experimenting with different hammers to see what you can come up with.

  • is that an earing?

  • @zdanz25 No, this is a hook to close a necklace. But you could definitely use thinner wire (20-gauge [0.8 mm]) and a similar technique to make earrings! :)
