Dev Anand and Nutan, childhood sweethearts, separated as Dev moves to Bombay to make music his career. A few twists of fate later, Nutan is married off to some one else. Dev Anand, devoured by drinks, is devastated. As sister Achala fails, Nutan pleads with him to give up drinking. Superbly written, conceived, directed and enacted scenes show Dev Anand and Nutan at their emotional best. The film, directed by Mandi K Burman, with unforgettable music by S D Burman had lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri.
