Passacaglia & fugue in C minor (BWV 582) as played by Fernando Germani. Recording from 1961 on vinyl record, I don't know on which organ. This is the fugue part.

  • I would like to take this opportunity to quote from Keats' poem, Ode on the Poets: "Divine melodious truth." That line describes perfectly, this performance. The ending of the fugue is probably my favorite organ performance of all time- The power, the emotion; unprecedented!

Thank you oh so much for uploading this remarkable audio. :) (PS: This vid says '1962', but the passacaglia says '1961'^^ In any case, it doesn't sound half as old- excellent quality~~)

  • I'm glad you like it. I fixed the year, it's definitely 1961, thanks for noticing.

  • F.G. makes unrepeatable impression. You can listen to other performers (and even to BuxWV161 as melodic prototype) but in vain.

  • Germani is great, expecially for the "legato" technique. but i thinq that Walcha performance of passacaglia is better.

  • Italian heart of F.G. helps to show the true value of deutcshe genius! Lets simply listen.
