We do have several Eastern garter snake videos already but this is footage of Andy actually finding and catching one. This was not planned we just decided to try to film the event of catching a snake. Where we are is next to our house by a really productive woodpile. We find snakes there nearly every time we check.

  • In california you don't go looking around warm places like that because we have a lot of diamondback rattlers

  • @brymche We don't really have to worry about that here in Michigan but that is smart.

  • how do u know where they hide can you find them anywhere whats the best time of the year to catch them

  • @justkyle136 Just look for spots that stay warm like wood or metal. They are usually active around late May or throughought June but it depends where you are.

  • how do you tell if they are male or female

  • @repboy100 The tail helps determine if it is a male or female. We can try to show in one of our videos.

  • That's exactly where I used to find them when I was a kid. Rock or wood piles next to wooded areas were a good place, specially if the sun was hitting the pile. They'll go sunning themselves there.

  • Are there snakes in new yorj

  • Hey u guys r great I luv garters. I catch em all the time. Wood piles r great for them. Keep up the good work. And please make more vids

  • @TheStevensbros i live in south west michigan and went looking for them and had no luck so idk

  • I can NEVER find any type of snake around where I live...No matter how hard I try...

    You guys are lucky! D:

  • @repboy100 also u can pop them, if it has hemipiens then its a male if it doesnt then its female. I wouldnt do this unless u know how to cuz u dont want to hurt the snake.
