  • This is social FOX TROTTING thats right TROTTING FOR PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WISH TO LEARN BALLROOM DANCING.

You do not need a DVD,ask a friend who can dance a little

  • This is very nice dancing. Unfortunately, in "REAL LIFE DANCE PARTIES" , you can only wish you have the room to move your partner all over the floor, just as they are doing in this clip. In almost every dance I have been to, the dance floor has a lot of people and you don't have much room to "move around". There are also many variations to foxtrot dancing. If you have good rhythm, you will most likely do well. Also, dips are nice, but not all ladies can dip with style. Taking lessons is good.

  • The foxtrot is a dance originating in AMERICA.....any of the other ballroom crap that you see is derived from the original dance from the early 1900's. Frankly, donning gowns and tuxes and trying to act like "Dancing with the Stars" is quite impractical for most people who want to go out dancing. I for one think this video is a great representation of foxtrot.

  • OK Send me the links....George

  • Blah, blah, blah! Look, it's simply a matter of not flying under a false flag. People who play table tennis don't claim to play "tennis", people who snowboard don't claim to be "skiiers". So, you aren't demonstrating the Foxtrot here - you're demonstrating the "(American) Social Foxtrot". Call it that and we don't have a problem.

  • I don't think I can hyperlink by this means, but check out these Youtube clip headings:

Basic Foxtrot Demo (Music) by Mirko & Alessia

    Hilton basic foxtrot

They both show the real Foxtrot.

  • There are many good Youtube clips that demonstrate the real Slow Foxtrot and not the rubbish shown here. Give me a day or two and I'll send you a private message providing the links to some.

  • @Czerniakowska

guess you're so right. any links to videos that show the "real" Slow Foxtrot? thanks

  • Some American clips on Youtube are a real menace, since their titles fail to reflect the fact that what is shown are their own "social" adaptations of standard dances and not those dances themselves. What you see here is what they call a "Social Foxtrot", which takes all of about five minutes to learn. Anyone mastering this and imagining they're going to find it just as easy to master the "real" Slow Foxtrot is in for one hell of a shock.
