I have never heard this work played with such splendour, such an innate understanding of the awesome grandeur of the baroque period,Gillian Weir is incredibly graceful and a true effortless virtuoso of the instument.I cried when I heard this.

Thanks organwizard! Very few get this work 'right'. Tempo is either too fast, or the organ doesn't have the sound, or the cathedral doesn't reverb quite right, etc. You know what I'm talking about. This is rare one - I'm keeping it. Thanks again -

Mrs. Weir does admirable justice to this work. Anyone know the hall/organ or the recording details...?

see original comment "Gillian Weir performs Bach's most famous organ work on the spectacular 1738 Christian Müller organ of St Bavo in Haarlem, Holland. This is an excerpt from the BBC Television series "King of Instruments".
This is now available on DVD which includes all sorts of extra information, highly recommended.
