One of the major issues about their capture is that the majority weren't captured on the battlefield by American troops. They were handed in by people collecting a bounty of $2500 for anyone connect to the Taliban/Al-Qaeda. This is why so many foreigners were abducted and handed in with no evidence. Many of the claims made against them have been bogus. Saying that they went to places that literally do not exist or other places that they could not have been.

Torture as defined by the Geneva convention. Every civilised country adheres to it. Except America. In fact, America has actually critised other countries like Iraq for not following the guidelines. I agree that you shouldn't believe everything you read. You have this dangerous mentality that 'they' are the enemy. But who are they? All Afghanis? All Iraqis? All Muslims? Who? Just because 90% American supported the war, doesn't mean mistreating innocent people is humane or just.

You're missing some MASSIVE factors. Humane treatment of prisoners is essential. It's internationally expected. And when you say 'They did', who do you even mean? The people in Guantanamo were NOT even tried and there is a shocking lack of evidence against them. The ones that were British were lucky, because they how corroborating proof from England. The ones from Afghanistan have none. A large number were not proper Muslims and did not know how to pray.

You do realise that they were arrested in Afghanistan and Pakistan, right? Not Iraq. Also, I haven't gotten any of my information from Pete. What I've said has been well documented. It is a the principal factor in closing down Guantanamo. The prison has effectively failed and has tarnished America's reputation.

Maybe Pete should interview my kid that just came back from Iraq. The stories of how they act over there would have all your heads spinning and definitely not so dismissive of their actions or why we detained who we did. You want the truth? Ask a soldier.

On a side note, I don't believe anything Pete Williams has to say. He has twisted more news articles in the past year as a major W.H. broadcaster than any other. The guy has lost his mind. He smirks, he's snarky and he thinks this is a joke. Watch him sometime. The guy can't keep from trying not to laugh. I'm going to take someone like him seriously? He can't even report facts straight.

I don't care what the bleeding-heart, politically correct think is. War isn't supposed to be politically correct. You're going to find fault with something because war isn't pretty, period. It's ugly, but we didn't start it. They did. You're choosing to forget that and dismiss the fact that Obama is now releasing them into the United States, against the advise or top military officials. The blood of Americans which will happen will be on the hands of those who support what Obama is doing.

Torture defined by whom? I could say slapping your face is torture, but is it? Because that's what they did. It's not torture. I don't see any report that there was no "evidence" against them. In fact, according to the DoJ, there was plenty of reason to detain who they had. Don't believe everything you read. We aren't the enemy here, they are, or did we forget so soon? 90% of Americans backed Bush after 9/11. Not that I agree with his TARP BS but he had defense right. Obama has it wrong

On a side note - I should say that these people in the video could potentially be terrorists against China. But, I doubt that you mind that as much.

Most of the evidence against the detainees are confessions extracted under torture/duress whilst in Guantanamo. This is one reason why their confessions are dubious. The Tipton three (3 British detainees that were released without charge) had been coersced into confessing that they were in Afghanistan in 2000, despite initially denying it. It was the British MI5 that eventually provided irrefutable evidence that they were in England at those dates.
