Here's some video I shot of Amtrak train #382, the eastbound Carl Sandburg, as it arrives at its first stop of Quincy, Illinois, and then departs. The train usually arrives anywhere between 10-15 minutes early from the BNSF West Quincy yard, and departs right on schedule after loading passengers at the station. Today's train consists of Genesis P42 #53, three Horizon Fleet coaches, an Am-Fleet I coach, and a Horizon Fleet cafe car. Shortly before the train departed I walked up to the locomotive and recorded a long strecth of video featuring the sounds of the unit idling, including the famous GE "whoop" compressor noise and the engine revving up shortly before departure.

That is the most addicting sound in the world. If I get rich, Im salvaging one of those compressors just to make that sound 10,000 times
