I love that orig simple but tight dbx track and figured I'd finally try to do a live cover deal with just qlinks. they are mapped to effects, channel levels and filters (all in the z8!) a 4 bar midi loop piped via the mpc, took along time to filter the vox to remove the hats and drums from the original, that was done and resampled in the z8.

  • nice work :) how do u like Z8 so far? can it resample /downsample the sound like Akai S5000/6000 does from 16bit to 12 bit or even 8 bits with variable frequency ?

is it possible to automate the filters and FX on it from the MPC?

  • @jazzroom thx, the z8 is sweet, it can't downsample sadly and it cant preview samples before loading. didn't know the s5 could downsample, nice! you can automate filters easy, but not FX without sysex complexity.

  • @professorquack

Downsampling is highly overrated imho. If I down sample in my daw to eight or twelve bit it never sounds anything like real machines I have with lower bit quality.

Your MPC and Electribe demos are among the best on YT. You show different angles as for most others usually do the same thing.

  • @harrymerchant456 hey thanks for the props!

  • cool ^^ you know you know you know :/

  • No problem Prof!

This wee number you got going here was stuck in my head last night. That's a release right there. Your a talented man for sure! Keep up the good work.

  • Splendid!!

  • Really just shows how relevant today the Akai MPC 4000, Z8 and Z4 are today. 24 bit, 96khz, usb connectivity, wav format. Totally can be integrated in to a modern setup. And of course the MPC 4k is still a mega tight and groovy sequencer...far more so than stuff like Jo Mox and Rolands groove boxes. Its up there with the machinedrum

    Well done Proffessor!

  • a great vid...I subscribed.
