Tibet is a sovereign nation under foreign occupation.

Like South Africa, Vietnam, and India, Tibet will end the occupation and return to freedom.

lol u must be a clueless idiot if u think western media is free...in china they control the media because the state and part officials are all powerful and can kill/imprison you if u don't tote the party line/mantra...BUT in america the secret govnerment and all the politically influencial families also manipulate the media heavily, but almost too subtly for the average person to notice, and they do this by financial control of the media organizations and agents infiltrating the media's top rank

while i agree that most of the western media is controlled and biased, the west enjoys enough freedom to allow an independent, reliable media to flourish. look for news, not "info-tainment".

mispistoleros,
You are, as to be expected, mischievous!
China never claimed to be a rich country. The majority of Chinese know they are very poor, that is why they are prepared to work very hard to achieve the very little they have! As for corruption & the elite, this is a universal problem. But at the very least, the Chinese are making progress & don't , by & large, complain. Your comments reflect your ill state of mind!

the chinese, by and large, don't complain?
that must be cctv and china daily at work, to make you think that.
C.A.S.S., along with various other state council research groups state that there were over 100,000 "incidents" in china (excluding occupied tibet and east turkestan) in 2008, in which security forces were obliged to intervene. that's a 600% increase in the last 10 yrs.
your comments reflect your ill-informed state of mind.

all these "incidents" were, in one way or another, sparked by citizens' frustration with corrupt party officials. the "incidents" stemmed from tofu schools to sanlu to property seizures to inadequate financial compensation for confiscated land to police cover-ups to labour unrest.

in one instance, the police rioted, destroying govt property because of unpaid salaries and bonuses.

i wish to encourage press freedom and media access in china, which leads the world on thug assaults against journalists, both domestic and foreign. don't forget that editorial in xinhua's liaowang magazine last fall in which the editor called beijing's censorship of the media "a dereliction of duty".
