  • I don't think so. You might be thinking of someone else. As far as I know, these are the only videos of Julien's performances.

  • If you read my comments below you will see what the definition is of an amateur. Some people are multi-talented and have other professions as well as being outstanding pianists.

  • Would someone please tell me why this is considered 'amateur'? I have heard countless pianists who fancy themselves professionals who don't even come close to this man's playing. And the legions of so-called professionals could learn many things from him. This is beautiful and sensitive playing.

  • The definition of the word "amateur" means that they play for the love of it, but do not earn their living from playing the piano. They all have another profession. "Amateur" in no way means that the standard is low.

  • Thanks for the reply. Great channel.

  • Didn't there used to be more videos of this guy on youtube? I could have sworn I saw a Brahms Paganini Variations and a Ravel Toccata.

  • incredible. I wish I could play as well as this man.

  • Great interpretation!!!

  • makes us non-prodigy music majors feel pretty insignificant. :)

  • Exceptional performance of a challenging piece. Mr. Kurtz captures well the etherealness of Franck's magnum opus for the piano, a rather underappreciated work. I may prefer this over Evgeny Kissin's studio version.
