[ Monday December 20th 2004 ]


The next morning was the typical breakfast rush at the diner; only today Selena would be taking the lunchtime shift. The bell of the door chimed and Nick entered the busy diner and walked straight up to the front counter. "Hey Leighton" he greeted happily.



"Hey Nick" she looked up from her pad of paper with a smile. "Selena's not here right now but she will be at lunchtime," she explained as she proceeded over to the kitchen window to collect her order of eggs and bacon for table five.



"I'm not actually here to speak to Selena." He raked his fingers through his curls. "I actually came here to talk you," he said.



"Me? Why?" she questioned as she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, causing creases to appear on her forward.



"I know Selena's not always had the best Christmases and I want to make this one really special for her" he explained.



At that sentence a big smile swept across Leighton's face. "Alright I'll help you since you only have a couple days until Christmas. First she loves to bake, Christmas is her baking season, cookies, brownies, and you name it. She adores Chanel, and loves to read. I'm sure you can spice up something with that"



A smile tugged at the corner of his lips, "Thank you so much Leighton!" he said, his voice full of glee and joy.



He began to walk towards the exit when Leighton remembered something. "Wait Nick!" she said causing Nick to stop in his tracks and turn to face her. "There's a firework show on the 22nd, me and Selena are both going and I have a spare ticket. I could give it to you"



"Thank you so much. I'll be back here tomorrow," he said before leaving the diner and making his way to the mall to find the perfect gift for Selena.
