Third Encore! This is the best version of Woody's song ever! Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger gets EVERYONE to sing this song! I love Pete's ghostly deep and gentle voice leading with the lyrics. This was a truly magical concert. This is all never before seen footage. The project is still on the shelf. For now, I thought the world needs to see this!

The video is a live mix and the sound track is from our CD titled More Together again. Soon to be released at Carnegie Hall this year. Arlo, Pete and family will be performing together once again.

  • I remember watching Pete and Arlo on tv in the late seventies. As they ended with this song, I remember my mother commenting "I think Arlo just does this song for Pete. I don't think he likes to do it." Arlo mentioned something about this when he did this song at the Boston Pops: "you wondered if it began to lose it's meaning or something like that." But he sure seems to love doing it here. It's a wonderful thing to make peace with yourself. ...(I'm working on it: inspiration helps :-) )

  • The son and holy ghost singing the father's best song. Or one of the best, at least.

  • I just found this on youtube. Thank you so much for posting. As one who thoroughly enjoyed the summer of '69, as well as the years on either side, I don't believe this song or message will ever go out of style. Tx and my respects to all.

  • @BevoBarry I believe she is one of Arlos grand daughters . Don't know her name though .

  • I remember 1st hearing this in 5th grade, 1971 (jeezus, I'm gettin' old, lol). Our teacher was playing us Woody tunes, Pete, Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary, etc. The folk/protest music of the day. It never left me. Thanks Ms. Hogarty!! And thanks for posting this video. God bless Pete.

  • THIS should be our national anthem!!!
