After going on a tour through a silver mine in Potosi, the guide gave us a demonstration of first preparing the dynamite (fuse, detonator, dynamite and nitro-something) and then setting it off. He was only 19 and was an ex-miner who learnt how to prepare dynamite when he was 9. Luckily he learnt English and could then do tours of the mine instead of working in it. Miners are only paid for what they pull out, and not for just being there and working. The mine opened in 1556 and the mountain has lost half a kilometer in height since it began, and an estimated 8 million people have died working in these mines, mostly African slaves and native Indians.
its called nitroglycerin ( DYNAMITE ), do you know how much he used?
