Part 1 of my overview/review of the Hi Point JCP. conclusion, this gun is a great gun to have sitting around, and at this price point, its easy to afford having one stashed in multiple locations, like glovebox, boat, RV, or wherever else might benefit from easy access. The bad: It's too big and heavy for carry; concealed is pretty much impossible, and open carry is very uncomfortable, not to mention that I regularly hit the mag release on accident. I wouldn't put too many rounds through this gun, as durability seems questionable. I have had no issues shooting this gun with FMJ bullets. JHP's work, but not with a full (10 rd.) mag. More than 8 hollow points and the first round or two wont chamber very easily or consistently. This could potentially be resolved by loading FMJ's for the first 2 or 3 rds. All in all, the JCP is a gun that performs as it should, as long as its well lubed and I highly recommend polishing the feed ramp. At the low price point, you would be ignorant to expect more than basic functionality, and in my experience, the JCP does this acceptably.

  • If you're going to review a gun, don't do it with live ammunition.

  • @TimothyRaymond1 Learn some tact. Although your point is reasonable, you present it in a way that is probably more affective at making yourself feel like you're some sort of internet gun safety badass rather than motivating me or others to address the point of handling firearms with live ammunition around. Even though I don't care for you as a person, I will update my vid description with the TimothyRaymond1 disclaimer.

  • Yea I have a 40hi point its a great target and training gun.once you breake the bearel the acrucy its better. One thing a would recomend is to put rubber grips they're about 10 bucks and slide Wright in but its hard don't get mad if you caint slide it in be pacient.well nice gun for the price also recommended steal matches from hornady to use

  • @1empyre He was just giving a safety tip. I do not understand why people have to take things so seriously when it's just a tip on the internet. Take it or leave it, no need to further making you, or the other person look like an idiot. After saying this, I feel I must say, "this is a tip take it or leave it"

  • I carry the hi point 45,for work and edc,but I'm a big guy the weight don't bother me,as for the pastic grips I put on a hogue grip made everything about the grip change, good video..

  • Hi-points are the cheapest pieces of crap you can own. They're heavy, not easy to disassemble and clean, the mags are cheap tin and as far as shooting goes they have a tendency to nip the top of your hand between your thumb and index finger when that massive overweight slide cycles back and forth. The grips are nothing to write home about either. Total garbage!!

  • @1empyre What are you crying about? It's solid advice and the truth. Remember that you're the one initially at fault.

  • Every cop I know carries a hi point

  • @sammos78 try loading 1 less than the factory mag capactiy, ex: 10 round mag, load 9, break in, then you can use 10. They're weird like that.

  • I have been talking about this gun with a few friends. They are cracking jokes to me because I am buying this gun. I have it on lay-a-way for a total of $215 with a clip. they keep making jokes about how it jams. How bad does it jam?

  • I also have a hi point .40 cal. Today my girlfriend and I went to the farm to do some shooting and we both his our target 7 out of 10 shots fresh from the box. I use FMJ bullets and we shot it 50 times and only had 1 jam. This is my first gun I have ever own so thats why I bought a hi point. It's cheap in price but awesome the way it handles. My next will be the AR-15 after I get my FBI background check back.....I still can smell the gun power on my cloths and this gun has a big kick....

  • HAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHA..I'm sorry I know you said it but that is the funniest looking thing I have ever seen LOL...No SHIT LOL....Still I would buy it for cheap,,like women and mopeds ugly is still fun...

  • my point is a gun doesnt have to look good to get the job done
