From 1986-1988 I was assigned to Fort Ord in California in the Army. This video shows what became of the old band hall and band barracks from that period. I don't know if they relocated before the base closed in 1994. But this was the location of it from 1986 on as far as I know.
Light Fighter!! Hooah!!
Ive grown up in Northern California and visited Ft. Ord many times. Lots of long walks and urban explorations. I share your reverence for these places, and wish more of them were better preserved/maintained. I always walk the halls of abandoned buildings wondering what life transpired there, who lived and worked there day in and day out. Like trying to revive the ghosts of the past. I love your stories about this massive, now-empty place. Hopefully we can one day find reuse for this space.

I worked in the supply room, we closed it down. That back kitchen room was locked because it belong to the dinning hall group. The CQ desk was moved to the center of the building. and yes radaski build and placed all of the equipment in that sound room. He also built a large storage building at the band in Hawaii. All of the equipment was giving to to reserved bands, alot of paperwork.
Thank-you for the memories

Not sure if you were the one on night duty when Ross, Slaven, Leibold, and myself played RISK all night long.
SPC Kim: I remember him and Leibold in the library trying to give each other paper cuts.
Remember Pvt. Foster?
