Ricardo "El Mono" Morales Navarrete is interviewed by Francisco Chao Hermida in a video segment titled "Historia de una Intriga" (Tale of a Plot) for the television program "En Una Hora" (In One Hour) which, according to Leon del Valle, first aired on December 5, 1982 on channel 39 in Miami.

The interview revolves around Morales' confession as one conspirator, among others, in the bombing of Cubana Flight 455 which killed 73 civilians on October 6, 1976.

Translation of interview (Part 1):

- CHAO: I want you Ricardo to explain a little [about] what happened on the Cuban airplane. Because it was you that captured Orlando Bosch. And, still, the Ministry of the Interior of the Carlos Andres Perez government denied that you were a member of the DISIP (National Directorate of Intelligence and Prevention Services). What do you say to that?

- MORALES: Well, the Ministry [of the Interior] of Octavio Lepage acceded to the subsequent pressures over the bombing of the Cuban airplane from Orlando Garcia Vazquez who thought that denying the fact that I was appointed commissioner [of DISIP], chief of the 54th division, by Lepage himself, he [Garcia] could escape the historical truth of the responsibility for the death of the 73 passengers on the airplane. A historic responsibility which I believe it is now time to be shared, not among the innocents and the one guilty... Because, let us be clear Chao, among the detained there are three innocent persons, and one guilty person. Among the non-detained there are four guilty persons. I am one of them.

- C: You collaborated in putting the bomb on the Cuban airplane?

- M: Correct. I am one of the principle conspirators of the bombing of the Cuban airplane. I admit the historic responsibility. I carry it on my shoulders. I don't regret it Chao...

- C: Despite the 73 dead?

- M: As if there were 273 dead. I don't reget for anyone one of them. If I had to do it again, I would.

- C: And why?

- M: It is the historic committment that faces those of us who have suffered [by] the Fidel Castro regime. Our struggle over 20 years in all parts of the world... Because I have fought in Cuba, I have fought in Africa, I have fought in Latin America, and I have fought in Europe. Unfortunately, for the enemy, as it is natural, who are the fidelistas... our struggle is not of words, it is a struggle of blood. Always in our paths of stuggle we have included the homes of our enemies, in the same way that they have included the homes of my friends.

The Cuban airplane [bombing] was an operation that began in the month of April in 1976. The operation that takes shape at the reunion in Bonao in the Dominican Republic, where for the first time we achieve the unity of the so-called terrorist or activist groups against Fidel Castro under one single name that is the Coordination, the CORU (Coordination of United Revolutionary Organizations).

Re-broadcast of this interview on the "En Una Hora" program was recently aired on GenTV in Miami January 22, 2011 and can be found here:
