MAC Asphalt Plant - Clark County Commissioner Mike Moore Speaks Out

Clark County Commissioner, Mike Moore, speaks quite candidly about his support of Jeffersonville residents and seniors on issues and concerns surrounding MAC Constructions asphalt plant. Moore makes a compelling case that issues with the plant should be resolved to the satisfaction of local taxpayers, something he feels has not been done to date.

Health and quality of life issues for local residents and seniors have plagued the plant since it opened for business in 2006. A group of senior citizens living in the Jeffersonville Court neighborhood have been the most outspoken regarding the issues surrounding the asphalt plant. The issues range from serious health concerns regarding fumes emitted from the plant to complaints about noise and soot.

In the video, Moore speaks openly about his opposition to a proposed new road that would be built through a local wetland to service the asphalt plant. Moore states that the Clark County Commissioners voted unanimously to stop the use of local tax dollars for the construction of a bridge along the proposed road. Moore also reports that possibly thousands of trees in the wetland area have already been destroyed in preparation for the proposed road.
